OUR GUIDELINES
Communication
Communication is one of the most important aspects of roleplaying. It ensures character involvement, so players must be willing to approach each other and exchange ideas.

BE KIND. Roleplaying is a hobby. It can also be a stress reliever and an escape. Please be welcoming to all players. OOC drama and harassment will not be tolerated.

BE BRAVE. Don't be afraid to contact other players for scenes and plotting. We're a small group, so interaction is key. The more IC connections you create for your characters, the more opportunities you'll have for play.

A WORD ABOUT DISPUTES. Players are responsible for attempting to work out any OOC disputes amongst themselves first. If a solution or compromise can't be made, please alert the Mod. In cases of harassment or bullying, there is a zero tolerance policy. In all other matters, the Mod will either serve as a mediator, or will hear both sides and decide on a course of action moving forward. If the Mod is forced to intervene, the decision made will be final.

Gameplay
At this time, there will be no official activity checks. However, there will be a Mod posted Monthly Meme, and all members are expected to participate. This will serve as an interest check, as well as (we hope) a catalyst toward more character interaction and/or plotting. The Monthly Meme may be IC or OOC, which will be noted in the meme title. Information gleaned from an OOC Meme may not be used by characters in gameplay unless permission is granted by the author.

There are four main areas of gameplay:

- Scenes, logs, and narratives. Please make sure to tag your posts correctly.

- Social media, phone calls, voicemails, texts, and gift deliveries. Please make sure to tag your posts correctly.

- Anonymous love notes, missed connections, secret confessions, lost pet posters, roommate searches - if you'd post it on the corkboard in your favorite cafe, you can submit it here! Please follow the rules stated on the Asylum Info page or your submission may not be posted.

Journals - Character journal entries, quizzes, polls, etc. Please make sure to label your posts correctly in the subject field.
[PUBLIC] Use this label for public posts. If journal entries are unlabeled, they are also considered public IC knowledge and other characters may comment freely. Please be aware of the information your character posts publicly, and keep in mind that the majority of humans in this world do not know about the supernatural. Don't blast the supernatural wide open without running it by the Mod first, as this would be a major plot point.

[PRIVATE] Entries with this label are only accessible to the character writing them (unless the player gives permission for another character to "hack" the journal).

[SCREENED TO: X, Y, Z] Entries with this label are only open to the characters named in the label.

Note: Journal entries may have sections with different "security settings" - please make sure to label each section accordingly. Also, please note that all character journal entries should be open to all members of the group, even if the IC information is only available to certain characters.

CONTENT WARNINGS should be included on all scenes, logs, and narratives. Additionally, all content that may be NSFW or otherwise sensitive should be hidden behind a cut with a clear warning.

PLOTTING is encouraged among players. However, if you are working on a plot that will affect a large number of characters in the game, please run it by the Mod before implementing it. This is to ensure that there are no conflicts with any upcoming game-wide plots.

IF YOU ARE UNCERTAIN about any of the lore or background info, and cannot find an answer in the Species information, Location information, or FAQ, please ask the Mod. It may be a detail that hasn't come up before.

CHALLENGE EVENTS are not mandatory, but they are a fun way to be more active and branch out creatively. For specific challenge criteria and rules, see the latest Challenge post.

WILLOW CREEK is a supernatural roleplaying game centered in the fictional town of Willow Creek, Oregon. Game play focuses on character interaction and active writing, whether through logs, threaded scenes, or narratives. Time moves slowly here. We understand RL priorities, and are a laidback group of players. If non-stop action and a game that progresses in real-time is what you're looking for, you may be disappointed here. On the other hand, if you enjoy character development and building up relationships — or breaking them down! — and aren't bothered by a slow pace, please take a look around! You may just find a new place to call home!
